A person has died after a plane crashed in a residential area in Saratoga, New York.
At least one person was pulled out of the wreckage by residents following the crash on Wyndham Way near the county’s airport.
One witness said the aircraft had collided with the tree as it crashed to the ground.
County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said the plane crashed within just a yard of one home, narrowly avoiding the structure and parked vehicles.
Local weather reports said the area was being battered by 50mph gusts of wind at the time of the crash.
One local told Times Union that the wind was so strong he didn’t hear the plane hitting the ground.
The aircraft involved was a 1964 Mooney M20E with a capacity for up to four people.
It had been sold and changed ownership only last month.
The cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation.
It comes after a married couple were killed in a plane crash in Dartmouth, Massachussetts.
The aircraft burst into flames as it hit a vehicle on a busy motorway during rush hour.
On the other side of the pond, a man died and a 10-year-boy was injured following a helicopter crash in Doncaster.
The 70-year-old man was declared dead after the chopper crashed near a recycling firm shortly after leaving Gamston Airport.
