Cat Burns addresses Lucy Beaumont friendship after comedian ‘wasn’t happy’ with Celebrity Traitors murder

In last week’s Celebrity Traitors, Cat Burns had to kill one of her faithful friends, Lucy Beaumont, eye-to-eye, and the comedian wasn’t best pleased.

When Cat, Alan Carr, and Jonathan Ross, took off their cloaks, Lucy, said: ‘Ooh I hope you feel terrible about yourselves.’

As the tension grew, and Lucy opened her scroll confirming her murder, she looked at Cat directly, exclaiming: ‘I am not happy with you at all.’

The pair had confided in one another throughout the game, and the scene made it look like their friendship in the castle was brutally ending.

Cat exclusively spoke to Metro at her How To Be Human album signing, ahead of the Celebrity Traitors final, about her friendship with Lucy.

She told us that Lucy was the ‘hardest’ person to lie to: ‘We were really close, we got on really, really well.

Cat went on: ‘I mean it wasn’t really hard to lie to anybody, we all came in on a blank slate, we didn’t know each other.

‘But me and Lucy got really close.’

The singer-songwriter confirmed that the Machiavellian murder hadn’t been the end of the road for them as friends.

‘We have a group chat. Me and her message all the time.’

Another relationship that seems to have blossomed on and off screen is Cat and Alan’s.

The two Traitors have become a solid team in the show, and their TikToks outside of the castle have been popping off too.

She told Metro their friendship has been going ‘really well’ in the real world, and she’s got big hopes for the comedian: ‘He’s just really funny. I want Chatty Man to come back yesterday.’

From the beginning, Cat predicted she’d be good at the game – and she was right.

In episode one, she told Claudia that she thought being neurodivergent would help because she’d be able to detach more easily.

It’s a topic Cat has spoken openly about on the show on multiple occasions, and she’s received praise from fans online for advocating for people with Autism and ADHD.

Metro asked how she’d found this reaction and what it meant to speak out: ‘Especially since the show coming out, and with people thanking my vulnerability, I didn’t realise how important it was.’

She continued: ‘I know it’s always important to speak about it.

‘But I think I have the privilege of working for myself and being in control a little bit more. So I’m able to talk about these things openly.

‘Whereas maybe other autistic people or people with ADHD in more of a corporate work space might struggle to speak up about that because maybe their needs aren’t being met in the same way.’

Cat’s latest album is a prime example of how she’s used her neurodiversity to her strength at work.

Speaking about How To Be Human, she said: ‘Making this album was my introspective and neurodivergent way of navigating heartbreak and the loss of my Grandad who I was extremely close to.’

The 16-track album is available to stream now.

Celebrity Traitors returns for the final on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
